About the authors

Satish Kumar

Satish Kumar is a former Professor of Diplomacy, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and had been at the School since 1961. In 1978, he spent a year as a Visiting Fellow under the Senior Fulbright Scheme at the School of Advanced International Studies, The Johns Hopkins University, Washington DC, and Institute of International Studies, University of California, Berkeley. Professor Satish Kumar was a Visiting Professor at the University of Torino, Italy, in 1990. He held the India Chair at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent, in 1996-98, and the MEA Chair at the United Service Institution of India, New Delhi, in 1998-99. In addition, he has delivered several special lectures at the universities of illnois, Columbia, Heidelberg, Geneva, Malta, London and Guanzhou.

Partap Singh

Dr. Partap Singh received his early education at Panipat, Haryana. He obtained M.Sc. and M.Phil. Degrees from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. He joined Desert Regional Station of Zoological Survye of India as “Research Fellow: and worked on ecology of small mammals of Aravallis under the supervision of Prof. Prakash. For this work he was awarded Ph.D. by Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur. Indian Science Congress Association awarded him merit certificate in the category of young scientist for the work. An enthusiastic scientist, Dr. Singh is presently working as a lecturer in Zoology in Govt. Dungar College, Bikaner. A prodigious writer, he has published more than 25 research papers and two books. As a member of various societies and organizations, he is involved with wildlife conservation. His areas of interest are avian and with wildlife conservation. His areas of interest are avian and mammalian ecology with special emphasis on their conservation.
