Synopsis This book titled "NGOs as Prime Movers: Sectoral Action for Social Development" talks about the role of voluntary organisation in various sectors of social development. Major sectors which have been elaborated upon include: Human Resource Development (HRD); Poverty Eradication; Health Care; Environmental Protection; and Human Rights with special focus on women and child. Both international and national case studies are presented. This book is meant to reflect on the role of NGOs in social upliftment and could be utilised both by activists, policy makers, and academicians. It is now evident that NGOs play the vital role in societal developmental initiatives. Their presence is felt worldwide, more so in the developing countries.
