Evolution of Hindu Sects: Upto the time of Sankaracharya

Sudhakar Chattopadhyaya (Author)
Synopsis This book deals with the origin and development of what later evolved into important Hindu sects. It traces the history of these theistic sects of ancient India from the earliest period to the time of the great religious reformer Samkaracarya. This book is based on available materials, both Indian and foreign, literary as well as archaeological. Reference to mythological accounts has been made only to a limited extent, insofar as it has been found necessary for tracing the history of the sects.
