Seed yield has no gene per se. It is a complex character. It is controlled by the action and interaction of many independent variables. Correlation measures the relationship between any two variables. But, the causal basis of such relationship is determined by path coefficient analysis. Path coefficient analysis gives a clear cut idea about the direct and indirect effects of the independent variables towards the dependent variable.
