Adetour from this stretch will take you to one of fine toll free roads in the country:20 km –long. Eight lane Palm Beach Road, with beautiful high – rises on one side and the mangrove lined seafront on the other.

There's enough retail therapy to be had too. The vastu node alone has five sprawling malls. But the star in the city's state –of –the structure is the D.Y Patil Cricket Stadium, Surfaced South African soil and made largely with important materials. The lush outfield, colourful stands a massive light tower make this pride of the settled city.

Also of interest is the salt depot near Nerul lake depot was built by the East India Company in the Century to assemble salt from the entire region and pad it for excport back home.

Bird –watchers must visit the Kharghar hills and Belay woods. Where they can sight as many as 60 speacial including wood peckers, Himalayan thrush, gold orioles minivets, barbels, green owls, drongeous flowerpacker and petronias.

The most breathing sight, through is of hundred greater flamingous pecking for food in the mud flats Thane creak, along the seven –kilometer stretch from Vashi to Ghansoli. These migratory birds used to fly to the sewri mudflats in Mumbai till few years ago, have now made the coastline of Navi Mumbai the seasonal home. For the best view of the fisherman at Vashi (about Rs.300) and float down the coast to the nesting site of the birds.

Getting There: if you want to witness the contrast between old and new Mumbai, a local train on Harbour line from CST Terminus to Vashi station is yet best bet. As soom as the train leaves Mankhur static the last one within Mumbai city limits- the landscape open up, the breeze picks up and the train cuts through lush green mangroves, glides over the sprawling the creek and, before you know it, you are at Vashi star which has the feel of an airport rather than a railway staition. The 30km Journey takes 50 minutes.
