Synopsis

This book, describing key ways in which contemporary education research has framed the questions of gender equality in and through education is aimed at scholars interested in research on education and gender and related issues. Mainly drawing articles published earlier in the Journal of Educational Planning and Administration of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration and a few articles authored by faculty members of NIEPA, it attempts at giving an idea on trends and varied perspectives on education of women, influence of culture and opportunity on education development, equity, impact of women's education on various facets of development, While each piece stands on its own, taken together this collection offers a coherent overview of what has been examined, and remains to be examined, in this field.
