Synopsis

This book is a collection of 23 papers presented or sent by renowned scholars on the occasion of our Trust’s 10th Anniversary, celebrated through the Pancala Mahotsava 2013. It is divided into two section, Part I on Darupadi and Part II on Her Pancala.

Darupadi articles cover various aspects of this iconic personality of the Dwapar period and Pancala princess, Darupadi. Penned by eminent authors, papers present a wide perspective and admiration for a liberated woman’s determination and valor. Peeping through its pages, one finds interesting facets of an enigmatic personality and the eternally relevant traits of women of courage.

Part II ‘Her Pancala’ has illuminating articles on the culturally rich land of Pancala, covering archeology, geo-archaeology, history, and Pancala Kingdom’s significant contribution in our nation’s rich culture, philosophy and spirituality. The book reveals how this reverend land, connected to the Satyuga, Dwapar Yuga, Treta Yuga, is silently suffering the pangs of neglect, but still nurturing the ages of its enviable history. Neera Misra is an Independwnt Research Scholar. focused on Vedic and Mahabharata period history and culture. and its socio-cultural impacts. she edited her first book in 2010. Papers on Hoe Deep Are Roots of Indian Civilization. presented at her Trust's International Conference, them penned a limited edition Coffee Table Book Revisiting Draipadi in 2013 and was Edited Indraprastha Revisited in 2017. This is her fourth book. Besides she also writes for a national magazine and has presented papers on her work at nationsl forums.

She is the Founder Trustee and Chairperson of Draupadi Drem Trust. With multifaceted talents and interests she expresses herself vta various form. Her avid interest in painting, embroidery and reading since early childhood attracted her to art, culture, literature and history. Her deep. centuries old. links to vedic city Kampily. The capital pf Panchala, enticed her towards research on the historical and cultural legacy of ancient Bharata. Her first study on Development Opportunities in Cultural Tourism was in 2005-06, and since then has ecovened many national and international conferences and positioned exhibitions on Mahabharata Heritage.

After Graduating with English (Hon) and B.Ed from Calcutta University. she joined MA English. and went on for PGD in Business Administration. with expertise in critical analysis and organizational work. She is a visiting Faculty at Government and Private Institutes. and has held several significant positions like Governing Body Member and Counselor Consultant at FICCI Ladies Wing (1997-2005). Research NCW Committee for Women in Industry. Expert Committee Member, GO! (MSME) Committee for Polocy Women Entrepreneurs, etc.

Rajesh Lal

Air Vice Marshal Rajesh Lal (Retd.), born 1948, was commissioned in the Indian Air Force in 1968 as a fighter pilot. He fought actively in the 1971 war with Pakistan and headed an operational base during the Kargil war. A qualified Flying Instructor, Production Test Pilot and a graduate of National Defence College, India, he commanded a front-line fighter squadron and two fighter bases. He held staff appointments at Command level, Air Headquarters level and at the Ministry of Defence.

After retirement in 2006, he completed his Commercial Pilot’s Licence and was the Chief Pilot at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Udan Akademi. He retired from active flying at the age of 65 with about 8000 hours of flying experience.

His interest in archaeology developed when he started assisting his father, Professor B.B. Lal, Padma Bhushan and former Director General of Archaeological Survey of India, in proof-reading his books. With this new love, he hopes to publish a couple of more books on the richness of Indian culture He has since authored'Glimpses of India: Some 5000 Years Ago;, giving an insight into India's rich cultural heritsge and has also discussed historical distoetions created by the Britisher and has argued that the Rigvedic people were indigenous to the country. He was actively involved in the planning and implemention of 1st International Conference on Indraprastha. and co-edited the book titled Indraprastha Revisited.
