B.S. Nagi (Author)
Synopsis "The CSSM programme has embraced several districts in various states and has made substantial progress. The present research study is carried out in 15 districts of nine States to evaluate the concerned activities of CSSM programme so that an impartial assessment of the functioning and achievements of the programme could be made. It is found that less than 25 per cent of the sampled children are completely immunized in each of the five districts. The safety of the life of a woman in her reproductive age depends on a number of factors, such as, number of pregnancies, number of abortions and miscarriages, number of still births she has had and antenatal, intra-natal and post-natal care she receives during her pregnancy and child birth. It is found that more than 40 per cent did not get ante-natal check up during their last pregnancies in each of the seven districts. In the case of about 50 per cent mother in nine districts, the last delivery was conducted by untrained dais."
