Synopsis

This book presents a multidisciplinary analysis of the development of the Indian national flag and the way in which it came to be seen, appropriated and sacralised by different groups. An attempt has been made to understand the politics that go into making of such ways of seeing the tricolor flag, probably, the most revered among the symbols, icons and markers associated with nation and nationalism in twentieth century India.
