From the early Vedic period, the Vaishyas, the oldest mercantile community of India, generated wealth for the nation through their remarkable efforts. Their Marwari offshoots were appointed by many rulers as ministers, advisors and diwans and were recognized as the first philanthropists in India. This pictorial book had been researched over five years, research teams travelled over 3,50,000 kilometres and spent over 2000 days researching and interviewing over 10,000 people directly or indirectly associated with the Marwari community to complete the research study on the past, present and the future of the community.
