Overview for Swara Yoga: The Tantric Science of Brain Breathing
Swara yoga is an ancient science of pranic body rhythms and explores how prana can be controlled through the breath. Traditionally a closely guarded science, taught only through direct transmission from guru to disciple, very little has ever been written about it. In this book the theory behind swara yoga is discussed, including the topics of prana, nadis and charkas. In the practice section the techniques of swara yoga are given in detail. The last section contains the original Sanskrit text of the Shiva Swarodaya with an English translation. Swara Yoga is suitable text for advanced yoga practitioners and yoga teachers. Line drawings, charts and illustrations are included.
Swami Muktibodhananda (Author)
Swami Muktibodhananda Saraswati was born in 1959 in Melbourne, Australia. From Childhood she was drawn to the disciplines of Yogic sadhana and ashram life. At the age of seventeen she went to India to live with her guru, Swami Satyananda Saraswati.
Under the guidance of her guru, she has born ancient yogic texts, Swara Yoga-The Tantric Science of Brain Breathing and a commentary on the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. She is well as traditional aspects of yoga.
In 1985 Swami Muktibodhananda returned to Australia. She now lives and teachers yoga in Brisbane.
Swami Satyananda Saraswati (Author)
Swami Stayananda was born at Almora, Uttar Pradesh, in 1923. in 1943 he met Swami Sivananda in Rishikesh, where he lived as a sannyasin for the next 12 years. Swami Satyananda founded the International Yoga Fellowship in 1956 and the Bihar School of Yoga in 1963. Over the next 20 years he toured internationally and authored over 80 books, in 1984 he founded Sivananda Math, a charitable institution for aiding rural development, and the Yoga Research Foundation in 1980 he adopted kshetra sannyasa and settled in Rikhia, Jharkhand, where he now lives as a paramahamsa sannyasin.
