Synopsis
For this book the author had to work in prominent Delhi Libraries, National Library Calcutta, Bankipur Library, Patna and Hamidia Library, Bhopal, and he is thankful to the Librarians of those libraries. The author admits that while doing his research and he came across Textiles in the 17th Century, Such works as alijah excited his curiosity. Then he went through numerous book of English Factories in India which are a detailed record of Indian Textiles. No person has consulted more detailed account of these records. The author consulted all the books on the subject published by Tamil Nadu Government which are full of valuable information on the subject. All his papers and monographs and articles were published in Panjab University Research Bulletins for which his thanks are due to the Chief Editors Prof. Motilal Raina and Prof. Nirmal Mukarji. The author wrote this book as the Fellow of Indian Historical Research for which he is very grateful to Prof. Irfan Habib whose illustrous father, late Prof. Habib was his co-examiner with Sir Jadu Nath Sarkar in his Ph.D. for the book Crime and Punishment in Mughal India. Prof. Irfan Habib was extremely helpful to him. He read his paper on the Andhra Textiles (Textiles in the Coromandal Coast at Tirupati under the Chairmanship of late Prof. R.C. Majumdar which was admired by all.
