It further presents an integral interpretation of Luke 6:20-26 in its larger context of the Sermon on the Plain. Finally, it tries to explain the Sermon on the Plain sequence as proposing a paradigm for constructing an alternative world order. It traces the basic outline of the Lucan conception of the message of Jesus, unraveling the central place he assigns in it to the mind-set ensuing from poverty, on the one hand, and to the attitude of an active concern for one’s neighbour, on the other.
