Dr. K.M. Srinivasan studied B.E. Mechanical Engineering at PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore during 1955-59 and got honours degree from Madras University, Chennai. After 3 years of research experience at PSG College of Technology for CSIR Scheme on pumps, flow meters and turbo chargers, he did his doctorate degree in cascade system for incompressible fluid flow and in particular axial flow pumps. As Professor in Mechanical Engineering at PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore during the period 1967 to 1975, he was conducting research on pumps. He got first prize for developing a light weight centrifugal pump for Agricultural use. Simultaneously he was working as consultant to M/s PSG Industrial Institute, Coimbatore, and was the key person to design and develop centrifugal, mixed and axial flow pumps, hydraulic dynamometers, torque converters, submersible and deep well pumps. Also he developed chemical process pumps at Sri Ramakrishna-Sihi pumps during the period 1975-77. From 1977-1984, he worked as Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Basrah University Iraq, and also consultant for pumps and pipe-lines for Petrochemical Industries at Basrah and Baghdad. From 1984-1988, he worked as Vice-Principal and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at various Engineering Colleges. From 1991 to 2003, he worked as Principal at various Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu also. After retirement he is now working as Dean (R&D) Mechanical Sciences at Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore. During his period of work he was member of ISI. Productivity Council and Consultant to a number of pump industries in India. He has written 13 research papers published in different journals/ magazines of national and international repute.
Now he is engaged in R&D in pumps and also giving consultation to different pump industries for the design and development of centrifugal, mixed and axial flow pumps.
