Rotodynamic Pumps: Centrifugal and Axial

K M Srinivasan (Author)
Synopsis

Knowledge of the basic fundamentals, design, efficiency calculation and technology of pumps is quite essential in various types of industries. This book Rotodynamic Pumps (Centrifugal and Axial) has been designed keeping this in view. Written by a competent person in the subject, the book provides a detailed information about the theory, design, testing, analysis and operation of different types of rotodynamic pumps, namely centrifugal, radial, diagonal and axial flow types. It helps the readers to design, analysis and regulate the pumps. It details the complete design process, losses and efficiency calculation, computer programmes. Working models have been fully illustrated in the book for better comprehension of the subject.

After 3 years of research experience at PSG College of Technology for CSIR Scheme on pumps, flow meters and turbo chargers, he did his doctorate degree in cascade system for incompressible fluid flow and in particular axial flow pumps. As Professor in Mechanical Engineering at PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore during the period 1967 to 1975, he was conducting research on pumps. He got first prize for developing a light weight centrifugal pump for Agricultural use. Simultaneously he was working as consultant to M/s PSG Industrial Institute, Coimbatore, and was the key person to design and develop centrifugal, mixed and axial flow pumps, hydraulic dynamometers, torque converters, submersible and deep well pumps. Also he developed chemical process pumps at Sri Ramakrishna-Sihi pumps during the period 1975-77. From 1977-1984, he worked as Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Basrah University Iraq, and also consultant for pumps and pipe-lines for Petrochemical Industries at Basrah and Baghdad. From 1984-1988, he worked as Vice-Principal and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at various Engineering Colleges. From 1991 to 2003, he worked as Principal at various Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu also. After retirement he is now working as Dean (R&D) Mechanical Sciences at Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore. During his period of work he was member of ISI. Productivity Council and Consultant to a number of pump industries in India. He has written 13 research papers published in different journals/ magazines of national and international repute.
