With his background as herpetologist of the Zoological Survey of India for over three decades, the author, T.S.N. Murthy, (born 1936) has vast exposure and experience in the studies on the taxonomy, distribution and ecology of the reptiles of India. What is more, he has a flair in presenting the reptiles the most misunderstand of all animals- In a smooth reader friendly language. He has published 170 scientific articles covering all the Indian and foreign journals. His books ‘The Snake Books of India’ and Illustrated encyclopaedia of the reptiles of India have been widely acclaimed.
