About the author

Thomas Reissmann

Thomas Reissmann was born in East Germany and having spent the first thirteen year of his life behind the Wall, it did not take him long to seize the opportunities denied to his parents and travel the world. He went to high school in California and studied tourism in the UK and Australia. He subsequently worked as research assistant in Costa Rica, where he investigated the effects of tourism on local communities. Reissmann also managed a hostel in New Zealand and filmed travel documentaries all over the world, including India, Kashmir and Oregon. While he is dedicated to making tourism more sustainable, his passion lies in inspiring people to discover their own. He believes that the pilgrimage of travel may be one of the most effective ways of doing so. He can be contacted at: [email protected].
