Law of Tort and Consumer Justice

Tushar Kanti Saha (Author)
Synopsis This book is a product of hard work coming out of labour of love. Explaining legal principles in simple form is a difficult task and yet this book reflects on the subject substantially on the basic outlines confining the topics within narrow limits and is compressed into nutshell to crack on the essentials. The book is divided into parts: Law of Tort and Law of Consumer Justice. In the first part, a fair amount of knowledge and information has been disseminated into nine chapters starting with introduction to the remedies in Torts in the end. The author has been selective in his approach and he has accordingly isolated the most important and creamy parts for instructive purposes such as the topics on Trespass, Vicarious Liability, Defamation, Nuisance, Negligence have been stretched and highlighted in analytical way with supportive case law. In the second part, the law of consumer justice has been treated in a reasonably comprehensive manner. It has eight chapters with two appendices. In the introductory chapter, the legislative importance, the consumer justice and aims and objectives of passing COPRA has been given a fair treatment. The definitions and scope of COPRA has also been discussed at length. The unfair trade practices and deficiency in service have been dealt with some detail exposition while a novel feature like ‘citizen’s charter’ has also been included.
