Bimbavati Devi
Bimbavati Devi, a gifted performer of Manipuri dance, is the disciple and daughter of Guru Bipin Singh and Kalavati Devi. Dancing came naturally to her as both her parents were Manipuri dance exponents. She has also learned Pung (Mridang) and Thang Ta (Martial Arts). She is the performing artiste at the Manipuri Nartanalaya, Kolkatta. This institute is at the forefront of popularising the dance. Bimbavati Devi was conferred the title of Shringar Mani by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai. She was the recipient of the Nandita Kripalini Award from the West Bengal State Academy of Dance, Drama, Music, and Visual Arts, Govt. of West Bengal. She has also received the Sanskriti Award given by the Sanskriti Foundation, New Delhi, in 2004, given to promising dancers and choreographers. She has given many national and international performances. The performance of Bimbavati Devi and her troupe is an audio-visual extravaganza, showcasing the creative essence of this classical dance form.
