VICHITRA VEENA - Dr. MUSTAFA RAZA

The Vichitra Veena is a plucked string instrument used in Hindustani Music. It is similar to the Carnatic Gottuvadhyam (Chitra Veena). It has no frets and is played with a slide. The Vichitra Veena is the modern form of ancient Ektantri Veena. The narrow ends of the instrument are fashoined into peacock heads, the national bird of India.

1. Raga Hijaz - The great Sufi Hazrat Amir Khusro composition. It is very good combination of Persian and Indian Musical notes. Mustafaji has presented Alaap, Jod & Madhya Gat (Mediam tempo combination & Durat Gat (fast Gat & Jhala)

2. Raga Rang - This track was composed by the great Sufi Hazrat Amir Khusro, It is a rich folklore & traditional Music of Punjab.

3. Punjabi Folk - This track was written and composed by the great Sufi Hazrat Amir Khusro, it is a very Sufi & for the first time that a Vichitra Veena and Vocals combination has been recorded.
