With every gene of hers singing a raga she inherited them from her grandparents Sangita Kalanidhi D.K. Pattammal and Palghat Mani Iyer her parents vocalist Lalitha and Mridangam artiste Sivakumar. Being exposed to scores of apprentices trained by her grandmother it gave her the nurturing few can dream of Her high pitched suave rich voice traverses and tends to stay at the higher reaches of the Octave with felicity and joy and adopt it as her natural habitat. Since her debut in YACM in 1987. She has been giving many performances to many of which her father lends his percussion support.
