S.L. Sah

S.L. Sah, M.Sc. (Physics), AMIE, C. ENG., MIERE, MIEE, FIIST.  Born in 1940.  Passed M.Sc. (Physics) in 1960 from Lucknow University.  Passed Grad. I.E.R.E., London in 1972.  Worked in Ionospheric Research Scheme in the Research Department of All India Radio and measured the ionospheric characteristics over Delhi.  Worked in Central Electronic Engineering Research Institute, Pilani and designed and developed the Audio-Acoustics circuits.  After passing Indian Engineering Examination (IES) in 1964 joined Civil Aviation Department, Bombay as Assistant Technical Officer in 1965 and supervised and guided the operation, repair and maintenance of ILS, VOR, AD-200 and other navigational aids used for safe landing of aircrafts.  Joined in Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad in 1967 and developed the "Payloads" for rockets to measure the electron density and temperature of lower atmosphere.  Joined in Oil and Natural Gas Commission in 1968.  Guided and supervised the design, development, operation and repair of the geophysical instruments, communication instruments and other electronic instruments.  Completed many research projects of ONGC and Department of Science and Technology.  Produced first time many new geophysical instruments required by ONGC and saved very big amount of foreign exchange of the country.  Also worked in offshore geophysical data acquisition party of ONGC.  Visited IFP, France in 1983 to evaluate the use of the seismic sources for onshore and offshore exploration.  Retired as Chief Engineer (E&T) from ONGC in 1990.  Published 122 papers in different journals and published four books and Twelve volumes of Encyclopaedia of Petroleum Science and Engineering.  The author is the Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (India), Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, London, Member of Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London and the Fellow of the Institution of Instrumentation Scientists and Technologists (India).
