About the authors

S.G. Borkar

Dr. Suresh Govindrao Borkar (b. 1956) is a Professor of Plant Pathology at Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, Dist. Ahmedanagar (M.S.) India.  He has completed his M.Sc. in Plant Pathology from IARI, New Delhi, 1979; Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from IARI, New Delhi, 1983; Post-Doctorate in Plant Pathology from INRA, Angers, France in 1984; D.Sc. in Plant Pathology from International University, Washington, U.S.A. in 1999 and Fellow Management Research Programme in Human Resource Development from Management Studies Promotion Institute, New Delhi in 1990.  Dr. Borkar has served in the capacity of Assistant Professor (1985-1989) of Plant Pathology at Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University, Jabalpur and Associate Professor of Plant Pathology (1989-1993) at Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri and Professor of Plant Pathology (1994 onwards) in same university.  He has more than 60 publications in 8 foreign Journals and 11 Indian Journals of repute covering fundamental and applied aspect of Plant Pathology.  Dr. Borkar is recipient of Prof. M.J. Narsimhan Gold Medal (1982-83) and Special Commendation Certificate (1994) of Indian Phytopathological Society.  He has been conferred with outstanding personalities 1998 Award, Lifetime Achievement Award 1999, Management Excellence Award, Jewel of India Award, Best Citizen of India Award 1999, Bharat Excellence Award, Man of the Year 1998 Award (U.S.A.), Vikas Ratan Award 2000, Ratan Jyoti Award, 21st Century Millennium Award and Indira Gandhi Excellence Award 2005 and his biography appeared in 20th Century Distinguished Who’s Who (South East Asia Publ.); International Directory of Distinguish Leader Millennium Edition (U.S.A.) and 2000 Outstanding Intellectual of 20th Century (England).
