About the authors

Harishanker J. Alappat

Harishanker J. Alappat is currenlty employed at the Gold Coast Marine Hatchery in Queensland, Australia. He completed his Master of Science degree in Aquatic Biology and Fisheries from the Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, University of Kerala. He also secured his Master of Philosophy degree in Aquatic Biology and Fisheries from the same University and later on completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Science (Aquaculture) from the University of Tasmania at Launceston, Austrialia. Mr. Alappat has undergone a summer course on "Gobal Biological Station for REsearch, Bermuda. He was also the recipient of the Senior Research Fellowship from the Council of Scientific and Industrial REsearch, India. He also published a book and several articles on Aquarium fishes.

A. Biju Kumar

Dr. A. Biju Kumar teaches Zoology at the N.S.S. College, Ottapalam, Kerala. After completing the M.Sc. course from the Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, University of Kerala with distinction and first rank, he secured M.Phil and Ph.D. from the same department. He has undergone an international training course on fish diseases from the Czech republic. Dr. Kumar was awarded Kerala University Merit Scholarship and U.G.C. Research Scientist award in life sciences for the year 1997 by the Government of Kerala. He is a member of several biological societies. He has published two books, several articles and research papers in national and international journals.
