Dr. Sathe Tukaram Vithalrao [M.Sc., Ph.D., Sangit Vishard, IBT (Seri.), F.I.S.E.C., F.S.E.Sc., F.S.L.Sc., F.I.C.C.B., F.S.S.I., FHAs] is presently working as Professor and Head, Department of Zoology, Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He has teaching experience of 29 years in Entomology at University PG department and 15 years in Agrochemicals and Pest Management. He has written 30 books and published 255 research papers in national and international journals of repute. He guided 20 Ph.D. students and completed 6 major research projects (from CSIR, DST, DBT and UGC). He visited Canada (1988), Japan (1988), Thailand (2002, 2004), Spain (2005), France (2005), South Korea (2006) and Nepal (2007) etc. for academic work. He is member of editorial board of eleven prestigious journals. He delivered 35 talks through All India Radio and international conferences and involved in Doordarshan, S.T.V. and B.T.V. programmes on useful and harmful insects. He published more than 35 popular articles in daily newspapers on insects and sericulture. He got several prestigious awards like “Environmentalists of the Year-2003”, “Bharat Jyoti”, “Jewel of India”, “International Gold Star”, “Eminent Citizen of India”, “Education Acumen”, “Best Educationist”, “Eminent Scientist of the Year-2008”, “Lifetime Education Achievement”, “Lifetime Achievement in Zoology (Insect Taxonomy)-2009”, Education Leadership-2011, Asia Pacific International Award-2012, Global Education Leadership Award-2013, etc. He is also working as Research and Recognition (RR) Committee member for Pune University, Pune; North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon; Shivaji University, Kolhapur and DBA Marathwada University, Aurangabad. He has been awarded several fellowships from different scientific and academic societies. He is Chairman of Maharashtra District Environmental Centre of NESA.
