About the authors

V K Gupta

Dr. Vijay Kumar Gupta (born 1953) is a Senior Scientist in Regional Research Laboratory (CSIR), Jammu, India. He did his M.Sc. (1975) and Ph.D. (1979) in Zoology both from University of Jammu, Jammu. His research capabilities are substantiated by his excellent work on ecology and reproductive biology of fishes, turtles, birds and mammals which has already got recognition in India and abroad. Dr. Gupta has to his credit more than 60 scientific publications and review articles which have appeared in internationally recognized Indian and foreign journals. Recently he has been nominated as Man of the Year 2004 by the Governing Board of Editors of the American Biographical Institute, USA and a Consulting Editors of the Contemporary Who's Who.

Anil K Verma

Dr. Anil K. Verma (born 1963) working as lecturer, Deptt. of Zoology, Government Degree College (Boys), Udhampur, J&K State did his M.Sc. in Zoology (1986) from University of Jammu, Jammu. He has undergone his M.Phil (19993) and awarded first rank and Ph.D. (1993) in the field of animal reproduction at the same University and has published about 40 research papers and review articles in reputed journals and books. He is also a member Editorial Board of the book series Advances in Fish and Wildlife: Ecology and Biology, Daya Publishing House, New Delhi. In recognition his standing in greater scientific community, the Board of Directors of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) New York, Washington, has recently awarded (2003) membership to him.

G D Singh

Dr. Gurdarshan Singh (born 1962-), working as senior Scientist in Pharmacology Division of Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR), Jammu. He did his M.Sc. (1987) and Ph.D. (1993) in Zoology from University of Jammu, Jammu-India.

Dr. Singh has published 13 research papers, both in national and international journals of high repute and impact factor. He is also actively involved in Indo- Malaysian research project on Malaysian medicinal plant, Labisia pumila and generated pre-clinical safety pharmacology data. His main areas of research are toxicity and regulatory pharmacology of new chemical entities for drug development programme.
