Synopsis

This is a work on the life and times of the tenth guru of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh, who founded the Khalsa. Revered as a saint, warrior, poet, philosopher, it covers various events associated with him and the happenings in his life including the assassination of Guru Tegh Bahadur, his own coronation, the battles he fought at Bhangani and Nadaun, his stay at different places and his founding of the Khalsa. Various events that sought to establish the Khalsa like the battle of Nirmohgarh, the battles of Chamkaur, Khidrana and Muktsat, and aspects such as his enmity with the Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb and meeting with Bahadur Shah Zafar in Agra are dealt with. It also presents some little-known facets in relation to the anointment of the Guru Granth Sahib as the holy book of the Sikhs.
