Gulam Dasthagir (Editor)
Synopsis

This collection of 23 papers, presented at a national seminar, organized by the Department of Sociology, Pondicherry University, attempts to examine the dialectics of institutional claim of inclusive development under the aegis of globalization. Analyzing the backdrop of interconnectivity between state, civil society and inclusive development, it tries to develop a new approach of crafting inclusive development emphasizing on the need to view the process of development as complex dialogue between citizen and nation state in the context of activism and agitations.

Focusing on societal dialectics and collectivity discourse, it discusses at length the tribal movement-induced societal changes, the role of dalit movement in inclusive development, dalit women movement, social exclusion of minorities, and protesting domestic violence. It also addresses the issues concerning displacement of people, environmental pollution, corruption and inclusive development of tribal women.
