About the author

K C Jain

K. C. Jain was Chief Design Assistant and in-charge RCC Design Section/(B&S) Design Directorate, Research Designs and Standards Organisation, Ministry of Railways, Lucknow. On the basis of his experience, he took it as a challenge to make available 'A Ready Reckoner' for the design of RCC slabs for buildings, most probably the first person to do so in India. His main area of work includes Design of Buildings, RCC framed structures, RCC Overhead Intze Tanks, RCC Hume Pipes and Precast RCC Bridge Slabs for Railway loadings. To disseminate the vast knowledge on designs of buildings, authors has written a number of papers, which are published as tips for construction of new houses in the daily, The Hindustan Times, Lucknow edition.
