Synopsis This volume is the second publication of the Indus Project, at the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN) in Kyoto, Japan. It consists of four papers and two  appendices:

1. Seal Impressions on the Clay Tags from Lothal: A Re-analysis by Asko Parpola 2.The incised Stone Axe from Tamil Nadu said to be Inscribed in the Classical Indus Sript by Asko Parpola Dorian Q.Fuller and Nicole Boivin; 3. Kanmer: A Harappan Site in Kachchh, Gujrat, India: Preliminary Report of the First Season’s Excavation J.S Kharakwal. Y. S. Rawat and Toshiki Osada: 4. Report on the Faunal Remains Recovered at Kanmer in the First Season (2005-6) by P.P Joglekar; Appendix 1: Harappan Sites in Gujrat compiled by Hasmukh Seth, L.C. Patel and Bhimraj varhat; Appendix 2: Excavated Sites in the Greater Indus Velley compiled by Suresh Meena, Rajesh Meena and  Sameer Vyas.

The work is in parts. The first two papers deal with Indus Sript and the remaining papers are reports of the season’s excavations at Kanmar and kachchh, Gujarat. In the appendices the Harrappan sites of Gujarat and the excavated sites in the Greater Indus Valley are listed.

Toshiki Osada

Toshiki Osada is a Professor at the Research Institute for Humanity and nature ( RIHN), Kyoto, and the leader of Indus project. He has conducted extensive field research on the language and culture of the Munda since 1984. His major publications include A Reference Grammar of Mundari (1992) and some books on Munda languages and culture in Japanese. He is also the editor of Lingusistics, Archaeology and Human past in South Asia (2009).
