Overview for Textbook of Wildlife Management
Wildlife management in Indian Universities is being taught as a core-subject of forestry science and even independently. Teaching and attention on the subject matter are progressing day by day. It is very essential to understand the roles played by the wild animals, which have come at alarming stage, because they are part and parcel of the ecosystem as a natural renewable resource maintaining food-chains, keeping eco-balance and providing hygienic conditions for the existence of all organisms including human-beings. Hence, to aware the general mass of the country is an essential time demand so that wild animals may be conserved and propagated scientifically and judiciously throughout the country upto the optimum-level as well as getting revenue by them. For the purpose, teaching and research of the subject should be given top priority.
It has been tried to cover almost all parts of course-curricula for the both under-graduate and post-graduate students of the Indian Universities in the field of Wildlife Management arranged chapterwise systematically. The book has been written in simple language as far as possible to grasp the matter nicely and easily.

Dr. S.K. Singh is PhD. In Zoology from Patna university, Patna and is presently working as professor & head, department of Wildlife Management, faculty of Forestry, Birsa Agricultural university, Kanke, Panchi. He has been associated with forestry teaching since 1983. Dr. Singh obtained a Diploma-in-Forestry from F.R.I. & Colleges, Dehradun. He made a one year academic visit to the U.S.A. as Visiting Professor in Forestry and was also trained in the field of Agroforestry at Costa Rica. He has also written a book entitled "Textbook of Wildlife management" which is very popular amongst student community.
