The treatise is a result of a research project sponsored by U.G.C., New Delhi on "Socio-Economic Status of Schedule Caste Women". The work mainly concentrates on the study of social status, family status, educational status, health status, housing profile, economic status, position of entertainment and addiction, professional position and awareness condition of S.C. Women. The work runs into 14 chapters. First chapter is introductory, which poses the statement of problem, significance of study, its relevance, objectives of study and methodology. Second chapter gives socio economic profile of study area. Third chapter is an introduction to Schedule Castes at large in India. Chapter 4 to 12 are devoted to primary survey, its various aspects and results. Chapter 13 is based on the secondary information of schemes and programmes for the upliftment of SC women along with poor and unemployed women. Last chapter gives the findings of study, problems of SC Women and suggestions to tackle them. This study will prove to be a comprehensive and in-depth study of SC women and will extend a guidance for their future upliftment and development. The study will be useful to Govt. social scientists, economists, politicians, social workers, academicians, women studies experts and all those, who in either way want to peep and probe into the SC women's position and problems.
