Overview for Ecology and Environmental Biology
Language forces us to express ourselves is a one-dimensional stream of words. But nature is seldom so simple and tractable; instead, she has many different dimensions. This is particularly true of Ecology and Environmental Biology because its subject matter includes many complexity interrelated concepts and phenomenon involving several lends of organization. Thus, there is no such thing as an "ideal" outline or a perfect sequential order for presentation of the subject treated here. To obtain an overview of modern ecology, a student needs to assimilate a great many ideas. Ideally, a reader would knew everything in this present title before beginning to read it. Perhaps the only solution is to read it twice. To help a reader follow a train of thoughts different from that the authors have chosen to use here. The present title is aimed to bring together in one place and in a simple way the fundamentals of ecology with special emphasis on the modern viewpoint of the science. It is designed to stress the unity of ecology and the necessity for including the influence of both plants and animals as well as the physical forces as part of the environment. The potential scope of ecology is very great and no attempt at any exhaustive treatment of the subject is made here.
