P.K. Sasidharan Nair was born in 1946 in Thiruvanantapuram, Kerala. After his post graduation from the University of Kerala in Sanskrit (special) Vedanta with a first class, he joined the University of Madras as U.G.C. Junior Research Fellow in 1970 under the guidance of Dr. K. Kunjunni Raja then Prof. & Head of the Department of Sanskrit. He was awarded Ph.D., in 1976 from the same University. He joined as Lecturer in Sanskrit in the same year in the Madurai Kamaraj University after serving in the New catalogues catalogorum project of the Sanskrit Department of University of Madras as Research Assistant from 1971 to 1976. He was elevated to the position or Reader in Sanskrit in 1985 and Professor of Sanskrit in 1991. he was awarded D. Litt., Degree of the Madurai Kamaraj University in 1988 for his work on the “Advaita Vedanta in the works of Sri Narayana Guruâ€. He was the first receipient of De. Litt., for the Madurai Kamaraj University. He has been serving in the Madurai Kamaraj University as professor and Head in the Department of Sanskrit since 19.04.1993. Hard work and commitment matched with sincerity earned him the reputation as the authority on Research Methods in Sanskrit. His specialization in the Darsanas brought him name and fame both in India and abroad. He has authored many articles both in the National and International journals and is actively engaged both in Research and Teaching in Indology. His major publications include the study of Samkhya Karika and the Philosophy of Sri Narayana Guru both published by the Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai; and the other works revealing Advaita Vedanta and The Samkhya System published by the New Bhartiya Book Corporation New Delhi.
