It also covers phytography, chemistry, adulterants, etc. This profusely illustrated book will be immensely useful to researchers, scientists, pharmacologists, pharmacists, biochemists, pharmaceutical organisations, medical men, planners, policy makers, administrators and even commoners. The topography of India along with its varied agroclimatic zones make it rich in plant resources, among which medicinal plants take a major share. The entire gamut of medicinal plants is so vast that to assess the plant wealth comprehensively is almost impossible for a single researcher. A galaxy of brilliant scientists like Watt, Kirtikar, Basu, Chopra, Biswas and others contributed significantly and, of late, scientists of CSIR, ICMR, universities, national laboratories throughout the country are working hard on different aspects of the medicinal plants. In spite of best endeavours, there are some lacunae. The scientists and researchers often encounter some practical difficulties in solving of their baffling nomenclatures and allied data.
