The colonial administration by the British became so heavy that it became unmanageable and Britain had to seek the help of the American Govt. and the people to maintain their empire. Most of the countries of the Asian region and the African region which were under the possession of the British Govt. had to be granted freedom in the aftermath of the World War II. That changed the British economic and social history of the modern period. In the book, the Modern British History has been divided in four parts for the convenience of reader, each part dealing with narrative of events, economic background, society and politics, culture and society and Britain and the rest of the world.
