Overview for Multiple Choice Questions on Kaasyapa Samhita (Vriddha Jeevakeeya Tantra)
Ayurveda was divided in to branches or specialities for clear understanding. Kaumarabhrityam is one such branch which deals with pediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology. Among Ashtangas, the Kaumarabhrityam is enumerated in the first place by Kasyapa which emphases the importance among all branches. Kaasyapa Samhita specially deals with Kaumarabhrityam. Kaasyapa Samhita which is currently available is incomplete form and out of total 200 chapters, only 78 are available and most of these are incomplete. Kaasyapa described the child hood is in to three types. 1) Garbha (intra uterine life) 2) Baala (child hood) 3) Kumara (adolescence). The pediatricians have accepted this classification today and are advising proper diet to the mother for proper growth and development of the fetus. Kaasyapa described various special diseases particularly for children and their management. The book entitled multiple choice questions (M.C.Q.) of Kaasyapa Samhita is not only useful to B.A.M.S. students but also to the P.G. students and candidates preparing for P.G. entrance and Ayurvedic competitive examinations.
