Like earlier volumes, it presents a brief and concised account of parts used, classical and vernacular names, botanical characters, distribution in India and their important actions and uses, Ayurvedic properties, pharmacognostic characters, chemical constituents, pharmacological activities, toxicology, therapeutic evaluation, trade & commerce, substitutes & adulterants, formulations & preparations, propagation & cultivation etc. along with a photograph of the plant and parts used. Efforts have been made to collect uptodate references from all available sources and the same are incorporated at the end of each species under the subhead ‘Bibliography’.

He taught for some time in U.P., them he moved to Delhi University and has been promoted to the post of professor. he is associated with many professional English teaching organizations. Dr. Sharma has written many books on English teaching and English literature. He writes regularly in many English newspapers and journals. He is a radio talker and television commentator also.
