Air Pollution Control is largely based on the practical experience gathered from the actual installations over the years. This book in two volumes attempts to share the practical knowledge and long experience of the author in the field of Air Pollution Control with professionals in the field. The book is intended for both text and reference purposes and written, keeping in mind the requirement of university students and teachers, practicing engineers and consultants. The book contains in Vol. I such diverse topics as "State of the World Environment, Norms and Standards in Air Pollution Control, State of Technology to Selection of Air Pollution Control Equipment" and every detail of control equipment. It includes the chapters on Air Pollution Control Equipment such as mechanical separator, fabric filter, electrostatic precipitator--both dry and wet, scrubber etc. Volumes-II covers twelve chapters, some of which hitherto, have not been covered in any book. The topics so covered are applications of air pollution control equipment in industries, flue gas desulphurisation and denitrification, retrofitting, gas conditioning, system design, emission measurements, design of chimney, design of dust handling equipment, fan, handling explosive dusts and costing of APC equipment. Information in the form of tables and charts / graphs / figures hitherto not available or available in a scattered way have been complied in one place. Wherever necessary, worked out examples have been included so that both students and practicing engineers can understand theory better. Briefly, the book is immensely useful to students, teachers, engineers, air pollution control equipment manufacturers and consultants.

The author has wide experience of more than 27 years, in the field of Air Pollution Control. Did his Bachelor and Masters in Chemical Engineering from the Jadavpur University, Kolkata and was awarded the University Gold Medal. After lecturership in the same University for 4 years, he joined Flakt India Ltd. (then ABB India Ltd. and now Alstom Power) in 1977 and began his career in Air Pollution Control Field. In Flakt, he worked for 17 years as Design Manager, Technical Manager and finally Head of Technology. In 1994, he joined the Crompton Greaves Ltd. as Head of the unit dealing with environmental products and systems. Thereafter he was Vice President of George Fischer Disa (now DISA India, Danish Multinational Company and leader in Air Pollution Control particularly in Fabric Filters), Banglore, incharge of Air Pollution Control Division. After leaving DISA the Author has strated offering counselling to industries for Air Pollution Control Management, as consultant.
The author has travelled widely both in India and abroad. He has a number of technical papers to his credit and was presented Sir R.N. Mukherjee Award for the best paper by The Institution of Engineers (India).
