Nanocomposites

Parag Diwan (Editor) Ashish Bharadwaj (Editor)
Synopsis Nanotechnology is often referred to as a general-purpose technology. That’s because in its mature form it will have significant impact on almost all industries and all areas of society. It offers better built, longer lasting, cleaner, safer, and smarter products for the home, for communications, for medicine, for transportation, for agriculture, and for industry in general. It is sometimes seen as “the next industrial revolution”. It is a revolutionary, transformative and powerful technology. The definition of nanocomposite material has broadened significantly to encompass a large variety of systems such as one-dimensional, two-dimensional, three-dimensional and amorphous materials, made of distinctly dissimilar components and mixed at the nanometer scale. The general class of nanocomposite organic/inorganic materials is a fast growing area of research. the properties of nanocomposite materials depend not only on the properties of their individual parents but also on their morphology and interfacial characteristics. This rapidly expanding field is generating many exciting new materials with novel properties. This book provides a perfect insight into the latest technologies, emerging markets and commercial opportunities for nanocomposites. It examines the key drivers behind this interest and commercialization f opportunities for nanocomposite technology in the various macro and micropolymer marketplaces.
