The Mokshya Sutra

Manjushree Panda (Author)
Synopsis Unswerving devotion, characterized by unflinching dedication and absolute Faith in God’s unbounded power will take one towards goal of Salvation. Mokshya or Salvation is a reintegration with the Absolute. The individual souls are part of the supreme self. They are controlled by the supreme Being. The Final salvation lies in realising the true nature of one’s own soul. This can be achieved by Bhakti (devotion). The individuality of the finite self (Jivatman) is not dissolved even in the state of Final emancipation. The Hindu mind views the creative process as a means of suggesting or recreating a vision, however fleating, of a divine truth and regards art as a means of experiencing a state of bliss, a kin to the absolute state of “ananda” or “mokshya” or “jivanmukti” (release of life). The spectator must also thus have an inner preparedness to receive this vision and be a potential artist, he is a Rasika, a Sahridya, one who is capable of responding. This arts of music and dancing are diligently cultivated and at every stage of domestic life, they play an important part, from birth to death at every stage is associated with the important ceremonies which is known as “Sutras” strictly speaking not in the realm of creative literature but is valuable in recreating a social history of customs and manners of the period.
