Synopsis This Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Asian Novels and Novelists is a pioneering attempt to cover an in-depth study of 222 best Asian novels and 289 novelists of 37 prominent Asian languages – Arabic, Assamese, Bengali, Burmese, Chinese, Dogri, English, Gujarati, Kannada, Kashmiri, Kazakh, Korean, Lithuanian, Maithili, Malayalam, Malaysian, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Persian, Rajasthani, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Surinamese, Taiwanese, Tajik, Tamil, Telugu, thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Uzbek, Vietnamese- from its beginning to the present day. This Encyclopaedia offers many views about the nature of novels and the role of novelists in shaping its history. Entries of novels and novelist here were chosen on the basis of their importance in the history of novel writings. We believe that none of the prominent novels and novelist had been missing from this work. The task which we have performed here is, no doubt, beset with difficulties but we shall consider our labour amply rewarded if this Encyclopaedic Dictionary is found useful by scholars interested in the history of Asian novel writing.
