About the author

C.P.S. Chauhan

Dr. C.P.S. Chauhan was born in April 1949. He studied for his M.Sc. in Mathematics at N.A.S. College, Meerut and was awarded the degree by Meerut University in 1972. He also studied at the University of Delhi (1974-75) and Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi (1977-82), for his Masters’ and Doctorate Degrees in Education respectively. He is a specialist in ‘Current Problems of Indian Education’ and ‘Educational Measurement and Evaluation’. He has also acquired special proficiency in ‘Methods of Educational Research and Statistics’, which has been one of his teaching subjects for the last more than two decades in two Central Universities – Aligarh Muslim University and Banaras Hindu University. Dr. Chauhan began his professional career as a JRF in the NCERT, New Delhi (1975-80). He also served the Banaras Hindu University as a Lecturer in Education (1980-85), and thereafter, shifted to Aligarh Muslim University, where he is presently serving as a Professor of Education. He has also been the Chairman, Department of Education in this university for three years during 1996-99. He has authored several books including a series of books on Primary School Mathematics. His other publications include Nature of Mathematical Ability (1984), Achievement in Algebra and Structure of Intellect (1985), Higher Education in India (1990), and Emerging Trends in Educational Evaluation (1993). Dr. Chauhan has studied various aspects of education extensively and contributed over 30 research papers and articles in reputed National and International journals. He is also a Life Member, and presently, Vice President off All India Association of Teacher Educators (AIATE), a registered academic organization of Indian teacher educators.
