The Flora of Eastern Karnataka, an island plateau covering an area of about 90,000 sq. kms. Have not so far been adequately explored. The present work in (in two Vols.) which fills the void is a systematic survey of the flora of this distinct phyto-geographical region. Based on extensive field study which involved the collection of almost involved the collection of almost 20,000 specimens, it accounts for a total of 1,421 taxa of angiosperms belonging to 140 families, besides nearly a dozen of ferns and fern-allies. The book is of special value to botanists, foresters, ecologists, plantbreeders, conservationists and practitioners of herbal medicine.

N.P. Singh is presently working as a Principal Scientist and Head, Division of Agronomy, School of Agricultural Science and Rural Development, Nagaland University, Medziphema. He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Agronomy from the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He is a recipient of District Merit Fellowship and BHU Fellowship. He has published 38 research papers and 70 popular articles. He has also attended 76 conferences at regional, national and international levels.
