Synopsis

He has done his Masters in English literature from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, Odisha.Starting his professional career as a Lecturer in English, he joined Parliament of India as an officer. Presently he is a Joint Secretary in Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of Indian Parliament. New Delhi.

He has extensive knowledge of parliamentary practices, rules and procedures of Indian Parliament. He has also got an opportunity to study and get trained on the parliamentary practices of British Parliament in London. He has also got an invaluable training on an Exchange Programme in European Parliament, Brussels, Belgium.

Apart from taking professional interest in the study of the functioning of the parliaments of the world he has also a passion for creative writing.He is very passionate about poetry as a form of literature.He is a widely published Indian poet writing in English.He has seven volumes of English poetry collections to his credit.

His poetry publications are: 1. Passionate Musing 2. Grass Flower 3. Canvas and Colours 4.In Retrospect5. Anticipation 6.Hints of a Dream 7.Audible Undertone.

Apart from poetry he has also written a prose book on the legislative biography of Biju Patnaik, the legendary leader of Odisha, the famous freedom fighter and one of the tallest statesman of India. The title of the book isBiju Patnaik: A Legislative Biography.

Ramakanta Das is a recipient of Kalinga Literary Award for Literature and Culture.
