This is the first book that discusses the Ruth Prawer Jhabvala and Chitra Banerjee Divakaruniin a comparative framework. Jhabvala is Anglo Indian author whereas Divakaruni is an Indian American author. Both were fascinated by alien country and choose the relationships between native Indians/ English/ American as one of their themes. Living in the modern times, the two have the same roots and share a common feeling of expatriates. Both of them are renowned novelists. Jhabvala was awarded Booker Prize for Literature in 1975 and Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni received several awards for literature too. Both were fascinated by their alien host country and choose the relationships between Indians/English/Americans their predominant theme. Living in the post- Independence India, the two share a common feeling of expatriates. The obvious differences in Jhabvala and Divakaruni’s manner and attitude to life or writing, however, noticeable they may be do not separate them in their aims.
